Date9ja gives you real tools to size someone up before you meet — but the final judgment call, and your safety when you do meet, is always yours.
RealMe identity checks
RealMe lets a member submit a selfie, a short liveness video, and a government ID for a human reviewer to check against each other. The result — verified or not — shows on their profile as a simple badge. The underlying photo/video/ID evidence is never shown to other members, only to the reviewer.
RealMe proves someone is a real, consistent person. It is not a background check and does not guarantee someone’s intentions — use it alongside your own judgment, not instead of it.
Trust Score
Trust Score reflects a member’s own verified activity on Date9ja over time — it is recomputed from real account history, never purchased or self-reported.
Blocking and reporting
You can block or report any member directly from their profile or a conversation. Blocking removes them from your view entirely and prevents them from contacting you. Reports go to Date9ja’s moderation process.
Warning signs
- Urgency to leave the app for WhatsApp before you know them
- Money, gift cards, crypto, travel fees, or “emergency” loans
- Avoiding video, RealMe, or basic consistency about work and city
- Love-bombing in days, then guilt when you set a boundary
- Stories that always prevent meeting or verifying identity
Before you meet in person
- Meet in a public place and tell a trusted person where you are going
- Arrange your own transport — do not accept a private pickup from a stranger
- Keep valuables and bank details off the first meetings
- If something feels wrong, leave. You do not owe politeness to danger
